Social Service Activity Report for January – 2007

1. DATE: 07.01.07, Time 10:30 Hrs
Venue : Vikalangula Kalyana Vedika (Blind Girls’ Hostel), Saroor Nagar, Hyderabad
Program: Louis Braille’s Birthday Celebration organized by Vikalangula Kalyana Vedika, Saroor Nagar

Patrons of Humanitarian Aid Foundation have donated significant amount to the Blind girl Rama for her B Ed education on 28.12.06, as reported in December 2006 report. Further donations received from various kind hearted souls were handed over to the Blind Girl Rama.


The total donation made was Rs.22,914/-. Total donation received was more than the amount required for Rama’s education and hence balance amount was donated for new dresses and other expenses for the Blind girls of the hostel on the occasion of Louis Braille’s birth day. Braille’s real contribution is spelt out in the following lines:

Louis Braille’s six dots for blind,
Fantastic script of its own kind,

He has left his name behind,
Vikalangula Kalyana Vedika makes regular remind.


Dy Collector of Medak District Dr Vani Mohan IAS, Chief Guest, released New Year Calendar with Braille Script.

2. DATE: 12.01.07, Time 17:00 Hrs
Venue: Lepers Colony, Malkajgiri, Hyderabad
Program: Donation of 325 Kgs of Rice


Distributed 325 Kgs of Rice to 162 families in the Lepers Colony, Malkajgiri. Out of this 25 Kgs have been donated by Mr Ramesh, the whole-sale Kirana Merchant. Such Charity activities are explained with the following couplets:

Help Lepers celebrate Pongal and Sankranthi,
That’ll give everybody lot of Vishranthi,

Happy Pongal to one and all,
Charity saves us from any fall.


3. DATE: 27.01.07, Time 19:00 Hrs

Venue: St Anthony’s Old Age Home, and V S S A - Orphanage, Malkajgiri, Hyderabad

Program: Donation of New Geyser and Annadhaanam to the Inmates of Old Age Home and VSSA Orphanage

The Geyser was donated to the VSSA Orphanage by Humanitarian Aid Foundation and the Annadhaanam (Dinner) was sponsored by Sri KS Murthy (IT&TG, ECIL) on the occasion of the death anniversary of his daughter (Late Mrs Sridevi)

4. DATE: 30.01.07, Venue: Green Field School cum Hostel for the Blind, KAKINADA

On this occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial day, we have donated 50 Nos of Audio cassettes, Rs.1,000/- worth Braille Sheets and Sweets to 42 Blind Children of this School.
